How to Recover Deleted Text Messages on Android
Step 1. Connect Android to Windows
First of all, launch Android Data Recovery. Link HTC to Windows with a USB cable. Don't worry about any hacking. The phone is under protection during the whole procedure.
Step 2. Turn on Android USB Debugging
Turn on HTC. Follow the steps below to enter USB debugging mode and then click the "OK" button.
Tips for USB Debugging:
For Android 2.3 or earlier: Enter "Settings"> "Applications"> "Development" > "USB debugging".
For Android 3.0 - 4.1: Go to "Settings" > "Developer options" > "USB debugging".
For Android 4.2 or newer: Hit "Settings" > "About phone". Tab "Build number" for 7 times till the dialogue box "You are under developer mode" occurs. Then go back to "Settings" > "Developer options" > "USB Debugging".
For Android 3.0 - 4.1: Go to "Settings" > "Developer options" > "USB debugging".
For Android 4.2 or newer: Hit "Settings" > "About phone". Tab "Build number" for 7 times till the dialogue box "You are under developer mode" occurs. Then go back to "Settings" > "Developer options" > "USB Debugging".
Step 3. Select Messages to Recover
When you have conducted a successful connection, it is high time you can choose your wanted files types. Tick the box followed by "Message" and click "Next".

Step 4. Analyze Device and Get Privilege to Scan Files
Android Data Recovery needs to get privilege to scan SMS data. Please go to the Android phone and tap"Allow/Grant/ Authorize" on the pop-up window.
